Topic:
Construction and Implementation of Mutually Adaptive Model for Developing Collaborative Agent in a Human-Agent Interactive Task

Contents:
My research focuses on building and realizing mutual adaptation model in a human-agent collaborative task, and consists of following three aspects:

1. In order to provide hints and basises to develop adaptive agent, it is useful to observe people's adaptive behaviors in a human-human communication situation. In the first experiment, human partners used controlled channels to communicate with partners to accomplish a collaborative task. Synchronized sensor data (includes floor pressure sensor, motion sensor, effect sound and multiple video data) from multiple channels are recorded in an experimental encironment. In the human-human communication experiment, people's adaptive behaviors were recorded.

2. A two-layered cognitive model is proposed to interpret the results of the human-human communication experiment. Based on this model, mutually adaptive agent can be developed. A WOZ(Wizard of OZ) experimental environment was built for studying and comparing results of human-human and human-agent experiments. As necessary user interface for WOZ operator,a gesture-based human-agent-interface and a GUI based interface were implemented.

3.In the last part, in order for finishing a collaborative operation, a waiter agent task in a virtual restaurant environment was developed. Basing on the definition of the mutual adaptation phenomenon, and proposed inducing conditions, human-adapvie agent experiments were conducted just after the WOZ experiment. Mutual adaptation phenomena that were observed in the experiment partly proved the sufficient conditions and sufficient conditions.
